Various and Sundry- New Videos and an Upcoming Zoom Meeting

IMG_8681.PNG

I’ve uploaded two new videos, and wanted to share them. The first one is all about my favorite Chinese brushes, and the second is an unboxing video for a bunch of new watercolor supplies from Cheap Joe’s. More on both of those below. But first…

Streaming a Live Demo Through Zoom—

I’m going to stream a live demo this Saturday, April 11th, from 12-2 Pacific Standard Time. I’ll have a camera on the painting and palette, and my wife will be running the comments section, feeding questions to me so I can answer them as we go. If you can’t make it, we’ll also be trying to record it and make it available for later viewing… but I make no promises. LOL! We’ve not done this before, and I’m sure it’ll be a bit of an adventure. :)

Accessing a Zoom meeting is very easy. Just before the meeting on Saturday, you will need to click the “Join Zoom Meeting” link below. It will take you to a new window and will ask for you to download a Zoom link. Once you do, you’ll be directed to the new Zoom window that will pop up. You will need to enter the Meeting ID and the password that I’m sharing below. I have turned off the video and audio of all guests, so people will only see my video and hear my audio, but you can type questions out in the chat box. My wife will be monitoring it and asking me the questions. I’ll be streaming live with audio, so I can respond immediately! Joining a meeting is actually very straightforward— none of us had done it 3 weeks ago, but we worked our way through! ;)

Time: Apr 11, 2020 12:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada)

My Favorite Watercolor Toys-

In this video I share all about my favorite watercolor brushes— Chinese Calligraphy Brushes from Inkston. These brushes are very flexible, and I’m able to use them in a number of ways that emulate other brushes. I can use them as a flat, a round, and a mop of sorts. And the natural bristles are very flexible and splay nicely. Plus, they’re relatively cheap for what they do. I go into detail in the video. Man, I just LOVE these things. Inkston calls them “Lang Hao Wolf Brushes”. Wolf is a generic term for the hair, much like “squirrel” is for European and American mops.

Here’s a link to their store-

Unboxing Cheap Joe’s Shipment

I recently teamed up with Cheap Joe’s as a Merchandise Ambassador. This means they help supply me with materials and such, and I advertise the fact, share about their products that I try out, etc. etc. Of course, the good news is that I was already doing this before, recommending their American Journey paints, being various brands of paper from them, etc… I just wasn’t getting compensated. Now, I get help with my art supplies! So, thank you Cheap Joes! ;)

Also, what’s nice is that Cheap Joe’s actually carries a lot of different products from a lot of different companies… not just their own stuff. Saunders Waterford paper, DaVinci brushes, Winsor Newton and M. Graham paints, etc. etc. So, I will still just be focusing on the tools and products that I like, that I think are quality. Also, as an ambassador I atleast have some small voice to help guide them towards products and brands that they don’t yet carry, which I think they would benefit from stocking.

Anyways, this video is… an unboxing video!! Yipee!! Practically like Christmas, getting this in the mail last week. A really fun thing to do during quarantine. :)

I hope I’ll see some of you on Saturday for the demo. !!!
